Latin American Fiction

With the proliferation of independent presses dedicated to publishing excellent Latin American fiction in translation, we’ve decided to put together a list of our favourites.

We’ll dip a toe into some odder classics before bringing you right up to date. If you’ve read your Gabriel García Márquez and are looking to keep the ball rolling, you’ve come to the right place. And hey, if you haven’t read your García Márquez yet, we can start you off there!

The first book comes, of course, with your free DL tote bag and when you sign up via our Patreon you get all our monthly extras!

Price: €35/month*
12 month subscriptions get 1 bonus month!

Subscription comes with all other Patreon bonuses, including all our Desperate Literature publications and merch, event entry, prize entry … and more!

*to purchase for collection in-store, you can give us a call or pop down to chat to us about it.

PRICE: €30/month

Each month you have your beautifully wrapped package delivered to your door along with a whole bundle of Patreon treats – from our newest releases to a postcard – and access to all our literary prize and online content.

The first month’s book comes with a tote.

Every month you receive a note about the selected title and the name of the following month’s selection.

Can we post subscriptions?

For the moment, no.  But we can give you a cup of tea or a shot of whiskey when you collect your parcel, so there’s that…

When can I collect my subscription?

Subscriptions are available on the first of every month.

What if I’ve read one of the titles in the list?

Just let us know the before the 5th of the month and we can swap it out for you.  You can swap THREE titles per 12 month subscription, and ONE title per 4 month subscription.

There are books for when you’re bored. Plenty of them. There are books for when you’re calm. The best kind, in my opinion. There are also books for when you’re sad. And there are books for when you’re happy. There are books for when you’re thirsty for knowledge. And there are books for when you’re desperate
